One restaurant that has been on our ‘must visit’ list for a while now is Dicky’s Bar & Brasserie in Southbourne. With a family get together planned we had the perfect chance to give the venue a try. We booked a table on a Sunday night in late February and the place had the encouraging busy hum of other diners on arrival. Dicky’s has a luscious décor with opulent furnishings mixed with more modern touches such as bare wooden tables. Lovely lighting levels and a mix of high and low seating creates a relaxed and trendy atmosphere.
Just outside Bournemouth is the Dorset Heavy Horse Farm Park. This award winning attraction is one of the last heavy horse centres left in the UK.
On Sunday 27 September, and against a perfect blue sky, we visited two more of the installations as part of this Arts By The Sea Festival 2020.
A pared-down Arts By The Sea Festival kicked off this weekend in Bournemouth. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation, many events were online only with just a handful of live events taking place Friday 25th September – Sunday 4th October 2020.
As lockdown is eased and restaurants are opening their doors again, we wanted to visit somewhere special for our first restaurant review. Nestled on the Isle of Purbeck is The Pig on the Beach which seemed to fit the bill. Here you'll find a walled kitchen garden, stunning sea views, a path to the beach, a herd of Dorset Horn sheep and top-notch quality, locally sourced food.
The Dorset Arts Festival 2020 is one of the first larger public events taking place after the Coronavirus lockdown. The event launched today, Friday 3rd July, and carries on all weekend.
We joined the new team at The Bear of Burton to be among the first to experience the pub following a £2m refurbishment by pub and hotels group Fuller’s.
Café Rouge has a new, deliciously affordable, evening set menu. This menu is a mix of some favourite Café Rouge dishes with plenty of new choices too. It’s perfect for a relaxed evening meal any day of the week from 5pm. We’ll get the prices out of the way first - as that’s the joy of a set menu - 2 courses are £14.95, or go all-out with 3 courses for just £18.95.
We joined the crowds for the annual Bournemouth Fireworks at the Littledown Centre on Saturday 3rd November 2018.
