There is outside seating with views over the gardens and road side for when the sun is shining and seating inside, across two floors.
We went along on a sunny weekend in late September to see if the food, drink and service were up to the venue. After waiting to be seated at some trendy rough cut wood furniture we had a chance to peruse the menu. It's all about the pizza, pies and cider at The Stable. As we had been seated by a member of staff we were expecting her to take our order at the table but were informed we had to order drinks and food at the bar instead. We clearly we were not the only ones to find this a tad off as we heard this being explained to confuzzled customers throughout our meal.
While making our lunch decisions we enjoyed a bottle of Cornish Orchard Ginger Beer and ordered a cider flight to go with the main meal. The flight gives you a third pint of 5 hand-picked ciders and is a great way to try out different products, the drinks come with a hand written list of what you've got to try. Our favourite was the sprightly Cornish Orchard Gold and the delicious Black Rat Perry.
For lunch we both had pies. These pastry delights come served with herb roasted potato wedges, salad, a pickled onion and tomato chutney. One was the curried goat pie with coconut, spinach and spices - delicious and goat is a much under-appreciated meat you should try. Similar on paper but totally different is the lamb pie with rosemary (if very subtle), garlic potato and honey. We were sat near the open kitchen and saw lots of pizzas going out too, we may need to re-visit The Stable to try these as well soon!
Despite the restaurant being full on the ground floor and busy upstairs too, service was quick and staff friendly throughout.
The total for our two pie meals with a 5 drink cider flight came to £26.50.
Best Deal Tip: pop in on a Tuesday for selected pizzas, side salad and a drink for £10.
