Michelin Starred Head Chef to Launch Restaurant in Bournemouth

Michelin Starred Head Chef to Launch Restaurant in Bournemouth

A restaurant led by a Michelin-starred head chef is launching in Bournemouth this month.

No. 34, which is based at The Orchid Hotel in Gervis Road, boasts a menu focusing on high-quality ingredients, while the staff pride themselves on offering a great service. The restaurant has 40 covers and offers people the chance to enjoy a meal in an intimate but relaxed setting with opulent black and copper details and comfortable seating located a 10-minute walk away from the town centre.

Head chef, Jean Gysemans, trained alongside his father in the family restaurant in France for 26 years before working at Hotel George V in Paris, which has previously been nominated as the world’s best hotel. Jean and his team use seasonal ingredients as much as possible in their simple dishes which are packed full of flavour. For the current summer menu, Jean’s recommended dish is Chef’s Signature Hake, which is served pan-fried on a blend of tomatoes, sweet peppers and onions, with Parma ham.

No. 34 opened in September 2016, and service continued throughout the autumn and winter months while the kitchen was fully refurbished, with time also being put into creating a new menu based on customer feedback. This month the restaurant will host three invite-only launch events for press, bloggers, and local business people.

Christina Joannides, operations manager of No. 34, said they have spent time on perfecting the finer details before hosting the launch events for the restaurant, which aims to be a destination for foodies in the town. She added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Bournemouth residents and visitors through the doors before a show, on date night, or perhaps just a necessary treat with friends and family,“We wanted to get the service and the food offering just right. We have carried out a lot of market research, including trialling things on the menu with a focus on local produce and using different suppliers to ensure that our customers have the best experience possible.”

The restaurant is open seven days a week from 6.30pm to 9.30pm and it will be open for lunch from June 22nd onwards between 12pm and 2.30pm each day, with car parking available onsite.
