We started with the Sharing Monkey Bread, an inspired opener made with Cornish clotted cream that was incredibly soft and rich, with a delicate miso glaze adding just the right touch of umami. The Crispy Cauliflower was another standout — perfectly crisp, coated in a sweet chilli glaze and served with an outstanding satay mayonnaise that we could have happily eaten by the spoonful.
Both mains were excellent. The Pan-Fried Fillet of Sea Bream came with a beautifully balanced coconut and kaffir lime sauce and tender Asian greens, pairing perfectly with a glass of Ridgeview Bloomsbury Brut. The Malvani Chicken Curry was deeply aromatic and full of character, the coconut and tamarind base layered with spice and texture. It worked brilliantly with a pint of Hawkstone Lager — refreshing and smooth alongside the richness of the curry. Cosy Club has a new partnership with TV personality Jeremy Clarkson to serve his acclaimed Hawkstone Premium Lager on tap nationwide.
For dessert, the Brûléed Miso Caramel Custard Tart was a clever and delicious twist, the miso adding a subtle savoury edge that lifted the caramel custard beautifully. The Rhubarb and Bramley Apple Crumble, however, was a little disappointing — the apple filling was molten hot, mushy with little texture, and with less crumble topping than we’d have liked.
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The new menu shows real creativity and comfort in equal measure — and with great service and warm, characterful surroundings, Cosy Club Bournemouth is a highly inviting spot for seasonal dining.
The total cost for the three-course meal for two, with drinks, was £88.40, service added at 10%.
