Bournemouth Air Festival 2018
Event Date: 30 August - 2 September 2018
Bournemouth Air Festival is back in 2018 with a vast array of free aerial displays, musical entertainment, stalls, rides and so much more.
The popular event is on from 30th August - 2nd September 2018. There will be free displays in the air, on the ground and at night from 10am - 10pm daily.
2018 details to follow, in previous years we have enjoyed:
IN THE AIR
Among others in 2016 there will be fantastic dusk displays from the Red Devils and O’Briens Flying Circus starring Otto The Helicopter, as well as Team Fire Flies and Aerosparx, both bringing formation flying and pyrotechnics to the evening display programme.
RAF assets alongside the Red Arrows and Typhoon will be the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and fantastic interactive RAF Village.
Last seen in 2013, the Breitling Wing walkers are returning with the ever-popular Tigers Parachute Team making daily jumps from an amazing 6,000 feet freefalling at an incredible 120mph! Not forgetting the SallyB, Twister Duo and The Blades.
ON THE GROUND
The Royal Navy & Army will be demonstrating their land, sea and air capabilities with a number of great static and interactive displays at their Village area.
There will be 4 Navy war ships, with note – Ship open to visitors! Tickets will be available at the end of July. Furthermore, there will be Beach assaults, Beat Retreat, Military Villages and Proms performance.
With the presence of Admiral Sir George Michael Zambellas, First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff of the Royal Navy at last year’s event, the Navy’s ongoing commitment to the festival is confirmed with four warships, a large amphibious command ship complete with helicopters, Royal Marines and landing craft and Royal Navy Black Cats helicopter display team. The famous amphibious beach assault demonstrations and beachfront Royal Navy Village are back again, all bolstered tremendously by world class music from the Royal Marines Band, HM RM Band Collingwood.
During the festival, Bournemouth’s picture-perfect horizon will be transformed by an impressive military flotilla, including 4 ships, courtesy of the Royal Navy. Continuing to support us year-on-year with a host of assets, action and entertainment we are incredibly grateful for everything they bring to the event on land, at sea and in the air!
The ever popular ship tickets for visits Friday, Saturday and Sunday will be available online at the end of July and again in early August.
This year’s Night Air entertainment, with Wave105, runs across three nights (Thursday 18, Friday 19 and Saturday 20 August). It includes fireworks at 10pm on Friday and Saturday, along with three fantastic music nights created to spread the entertainment across all generations.
A revamped Night Air programme welcomes a mini tattoo on the East Overcliff (Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening) with the brilliant RAF Queens Colour Squadron, alongside the Royal Navy Beat Retreat sunset ceremony and unarmed combat displays by the Royal Marines.
Thursday – Thursday evening will be a very British affair with a ‘Musical Spectacular’ performed by the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines Collingwood. Proms on the beach.
Friday – Friday night is ‘Hits on the Beach’ by Wave 105, check Facebook for updates!
Saturday – Saturday night ‘Sunset on the Beach’ is the official, not-to-be-missed, beach event with Halo. Tickets start from £10.
For full details and times please purchase an Air Festival programme from local shops and available from stalls across town during the event.
