British Science Week is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths held from 8-17 March 2019. This year’s theme is ‘journeys’ and the BNSS has organised three special adult education lectures around this topic.

The Crumbs Project charity, with funding from Luxurycare Group, is set to open a brand-new café in the grounds of Birds Hill Nursing Home on Monday 11th March with an official public opening taking place between 10am and 2pm. Aside from offering tasty treats and drinks, the café focuses on helping their mixed-ability trainees achieve life skills and professional development, with all profits being invested back in to the charity. Colin’s Nest is named after a past resident at the Birds Hill Nursing Home. The café compliments Crumbs’ training centre in Bournemouth, which provides a range of catering services.

A Celebration of the RNLI at Poole Museum

Poole Museum is hosting a unique photography project celebrating the distinguished past and present of the RNLI. Entitled: Calm before the Storm - The Art of Photographing Lifeboats, the free exhibition will run from 26 January to 22 April 2019.

A new facial reconstruction of Tahemaa, the BNSS’s 25th dynasty Egyptian mummy, is now on display, along with a three-dimensional model of the skull. This reconstruction, based on the scans done in 2009 at City University in London, has been created by Vanessa Pearson, a third year Model Making student at the Arts University Bournemouth.

Double Decker Surprise for 90th Birthday
