Big Screens Up for The Coronation of King Charles III

Big Screens Up for The Coronation of King Charles III

Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch is celebrating the Coronation of King Charles III and you get involved in the activities taking place over the bank holiday weekend 6 - 8 May 2023.

A few of you will remember the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, but for many, this will be the first time they'll experience a Coronation ceremony, so make it a weekend to remember!

The Coronation ceremony to mark His Majesty King Charles III’s ascension to the throne will take place at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday May 6, 2023. The Coronation Ceremony will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Across the Coronation Weekend, there will be further opportunities for people to come together in celebration of the historic occasion. On Sunday, 7th May 2023, a special Coronation Concert will be staged and broadcast live at Windsor Castle.

The Coronation Big Lunch, at which neighbours and communities are invited to share food and fun together, will take place across the country on the same date.

And on Monday, 8 May 2023, members of the public will be invited to take part in The Big Help Out, which will encourage people to try volunteering for themselves and join the work being undertaken to support their local areas.

Big Screens will be placed in the Lower Gardens, Bournemouth; The Quomps, Christchurch; and Baiter Park, Poole to broadcast these national events.
