Photos from this weekend's Light Up Poole Art Festival

Poole will provide a dramatic backdrop to series of interactive digital Light Art installations this weekend.

The festival is designed to inspire, delight and enchant residents & visitors. Both emerging and International artists will showcase their ground-breaking work in a celebration of Poole’s cultural diversity, rich heritage and unique location in partnership with leading cultural organisations.

The free event launched on Thursday 21st February and we went along to view the various installations across Poole town centre and Quay. Particular favourites were RHIZOME by Tom & Lien Dekyvere, THE WeatherMACHINE by Wild Strawberry and we were mesmerised by the 'tidal light writer', NYX by Gijs van Bon - letter after letter, glowing text appears slowly out of the machine on the road surface. On the Quay you'll be able to see HARBOUR GLOW by James Smith, Audacious and Wolf Lighting - using revolutionary and game changing lighting  technology by French engineering company MinuitUne we will light the dockside and cranes to create an ambitious moving light installation called Harbour Glow.

There are over 30 exhibitions to experience and the event is on over Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd February between 6pm and 9pm. This is a free event, suitable for all.
