Dinner Review at 60 Million Postcards

After a recent facelift, one of Bournemouth's most popular venues is back for 2018 with a great new look and lip-smacking menu.

On a cold night in February we popped in to 60 Million Postcards to try out their Supper Counter menu. We were served by the friendly Lewie and the venue has a relaxed atmosphere, chilled and non-pretentious. Indeed the crowd while we were there was an eclectic mix of students, office workers and even a group of well-to-do types in tuxedos enjoying a few drinks, we didn't ask where they were heading but 60 Million Postcards is just a stones throw from The Bournemouth International Centre and the Hilton - so a varied bunch is not unexpected.

The menu is strong on burgers and chicken and also offers good vegetarian options. We picked the Cheesy Chilli Burger which includes a chunky beef patty, cheesy sauce, tobacco onions + beef chilli. The menu has some exciting vegetarian options and we also tried the Grilled goats cheese, roast beetroot + puy lentils salad. This gorgeous looking plate comes with orange + whiskey roasted beetroots, dressed spinach and watercress. Yes, whiskey roasted beetroot is a thing and it's a mighty fine thing.

Our side dishes were some very good Triple Cooked Chips, a small mug of Lobster Macaroni and Cheese and a box of Beefy Chilli Nachos, a punchy mix of pulled brisket chilli, tricoloured chillies, sour cream, cheesy sauce, smashed avocado + salsa, the nachos and sauces were tasty but a could have been hotter.

In place of a dessert menu 60 Million Postcards offers a range of milk shakes including the Oreo shake we went for, with a shot of Bulleit Bourbon Whiskey to top it off.

The total for our two mains, three side dishes and a boozy Oreo shake was £38.
