Pursuit of Happiness: Dance Show asks What Makes You Happy?

Pursuit of Happiness: Dance Show asks What Makes You Happy?

International dance artist Didy Veldman searches for contentment with new company Umanoove, in her latest production The Happiness Project, at Pavilion Dance on Thursday 4 May.

The Happiness Project has been on Veldman’s mind for years and she’s brought together a phenomenal team of four dancers to realise it. Musically she’s chosen one of the best, Romanian violinist and composer, Alexander Balenescu. Balanescu and the four dancers execute finesse as they perform live alongside each other in an evening of intricate, lyrical contemporary dance.

With an investigative approach, Veldman looks at western society’s endless search for fulfilment. Inspired by sources from philosophy, music, theatre, dance and body language, this supremely physical and theatrical work is made in collaboration with designer Kimie Nakano.

Veldman has developed an excellent reputation for her expressive, dynamic work for dance companies including Rambert, Northern Ballet and HeadSpaceDance.
