BBC Arts ‘Get Creative’ Weekend in April

BBC Arts ‘Get Creative’ Weekend in April

Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts, is celebrating the BBC Arts Get Creative weekend with a number of free events during the course of Friday 7 – Sunday 9 April.

On Saturday 8 you are invited to Sing Your Lungs Out in a participatory workshop for all the family. Come along, get creative and discover the power of your voice through singing.  This is an opportunity to express yourself whatever your age, ability or experience - first warming-up your voice and then singing along to A Little Respect by Erasure and Somebody to Love by Queen.  Local choirs and musicians are invited to join in and jam along, with all song sheets provided.

Breath of Light is an exhibition of paintings inspired by the natural environment by national award winning artist Lisa Lewis, which is open to the public at Lighthouse from 25 March – 29 April.  On Friday 7 & Saturday 8 April there will be drop-in family friendly art activities to help you engage further with Lisa’s exhibition – download some of the activities before you come or simply pick up some sheets in the Lighthouse Gallery. Activities include Make Your Own Mini Landscape in 5 minutes, Spot the Detail, Create your own Nocturnal picture, Help the Art Critic and Solve the Giant Floor Puzzle. If you are aged 7-16 there is also the chance to get your art displayed at Lighthouse during the last two weeks of April.

The BBC Arts Get Creative weekend is a celebration of the nation’s creativity with three days of free activities across the country. Get Creative Champions such as Lighthouse will be rolling up their sleeves and throwing open their doors to enable the public to try something new.
