Meet Arabella Burlace, the Shipwright’s wife and Mary and Ann, the wives of Master Shipwrights, Edward and Balthazar Adams. Join their daily tours to learn what life would have been like in this thriving shipbuilding village in their days.
Visit historic displays in the labourer’s and shipwright’s cottages to see how homes would have looked in the early 1800s and in the New Inn, you can hear residents from the time gossiping about local matters. Explore the Maritime Museum to learn the history of this unique village and the ships that were built here, including some that took part in the Battle of Trafalgar!
Make sure you take a moment to admire the replica 18th century shipwright’s workshop at the bottom of the village street before strolling along the Woodland Walk to learn how local timber was used to build ships in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Don’t miss the opportunity to embark on one of the last River Cruises of the season. This tranquil 30 minute journey wends its way along the Beaulieu River with an accompanying commentary revealing the river’s history and the abundant wildlife that inhabits its riverbanks.
