Council Sets Out Ambitious Vision for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole in 2026

2026 is positioned as a year of ambition and opportunity for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, building on strong momentum from 2025. BCP Council highlights more than £750 million of new investment, business growth across all three towns, falling vacancy rates, and increased visitor numbers supporting the local economy.

The Council is progressing plans to revitalise high streets, return vacant units to community use, and empower residents through the creation of town councils. A new Residents Card will offer discounts, free monthly swimming and parking incentives to boost wellbeing and town centre use.

Significant investment includes £4.4 million to upgrade more than 120 play areas, improvements to roads with thousands of potholes repaired, and the rollout of a simpler, unified waste collection service benefiting over 100,000 residents from April 2026.

BCP Council is also advancing sustainable transport initiatives, including expanded electric vehicle charging and proposals to reduce roadwork disruption. While acknowledging ongoing financial pressures and national challenges, the Council continues to lobby for fairer government funding and action on SEND, while maintaining a focus on protecting vital services and delivering positive outcomes for residents across the three towns.
