Explore The Electric Forest At Night This Half Term
If you’re looking for something a bit different to do with the family this February half term then head to Moors Valley Country Park where you will be able to explore the woodland after dark at The Electric Forest.
For one week only, a special part-lit forest trail dotted with installations of light and sound, will be open between 6.30-9pm each evening, giving visitors a safe and exciting way to explore the forest environment at night.
The family-friendly 2km trail, will take around an hour walking at a leisurely pace to complete, although organisers hope people will stay as long as they want.
Zoe Bottrell, director of Culture Creative, the organisation behind the event, said: “Rather than retreat indoors over winter we’ve found that people like to get outdoors and discover the local landscapes from a different perspective. Our partnership with the Forestry Commission has taken The Electric Forest to some wonderful woodland locations throughout the country and Moors Valley with its wondrous swathes of pines, waymarked woodland tracks and imaginative play structures, is a perfect landscape to bring to life after dark for all the family to enjoy.”
Working closely with Moors Valley rangers, The Electric Forest creative team has picked out elements of the forest canopy and woodland environment to enhance with light and sound installations, although visitors are advised to bring a torch as the trail is dark in places.
“This night-time ramble will be an exploration into the forest at night that will have illuminated playscapes for children to clamber over, sound installations to listen to and a magical tree-top ‘ballroom’ walkway, which will be transformed by gently spinning mirror balls, to discover – we’re also planning a forest treasure trail for kids to follow. ” added Zoe.
Seasons Restaurant will also be opening its doors during the week for pre-booked diners to enjoy a special two-course winter warmer menu for £15 per head for adults and £7.50 for children. To find out more and to book, phone 01425 470537.
So wrap up warm, bring a torch and come and discover the forest at night!
The self guided Electric Forest trail will be open from Saturday, 11 to Sunday 19 February between 6.30pm and 9pm every evening, last admittance to trail is at 8.30pm.
