Christmas in BournemouthBournemouth is set for bumper Christmas with so much going on in the town centre and across the area in December.  All this plus excellent shopping, places to eat and drink and a welcoming atmosphere.

The Bournemouth Christmas Festival is back and be bigger and better than ever before. Filling the heart of Bournemouth in the Town Square, the Lower Gardens and town centre, the extravaganza will be bursting at the seams with Christmas fun!

The Christmas Market, which will run from 14th November – 6th January will feature authentic German cuisine, an Alpine Chalet style bar offering traditional Gluhwein and an array of stalls offering seasonal gifts.

In the Lower Gardens you can view the illuminated winter wonderland. The Gardens of Light will be running from 16th November – 6th January and will include a variety of interactive displays. There will also be a fantastic ice rink taking centre stage in the gardens adding the ultimate festive statement.

AladdinThe Big Bournemouth Christmas Light Switch On will be taking place on Sunday 24th November in the Square.

There will be two Christmas Parades, on 1st and 12th of December and Santa’s Grotto will be open on 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and 30th November through to 24th of December.

Of course, Christmas wouldn’t be complete (oh no it wouldn't!) without a pantomime. Aladdin will be showing from Saturday 7 December 2013 to Sunday 5 January 2014 at The Pavilion.


Westbourne is offering a Magical Christmas fayre on Saturday 7th December. The popular event includes a farmers market on Landseer Road, Santa's Grotto in the Arcade, music and performers around Westbourne and a lights switch on with Fire at 4pm outside M&S. Find out more at www.westbourne.info


In Boscombe the Sovereign Shopping Centre is gearing up for a busy couple of months. The Santa’s Grotto, organised by the Rotary clubs of Boscombe, Southbourne and Westbourne, is supporting local charities Coda Fiddle Orchestra, Bournemouth Food Bank and Food Parcels. The Grotto is open on the weekends from Saturday 7 December until Sunday 15 December, and then every day from Monday 16 December until Christmas Eve. Entry is priced £4 per child.
On Saturday 17 December it’s time for the Boscombe Christmas Carnival. This fanastic annual event includes a parade with oats and a marching band starting at King Park at 2.30pm. The parade passes Pokesdown Green, opposite the train station, where there will be a community market from 11am - 4pm. The day culminates with the big Christmas lights switch on in Boscombe. In Southbourne there’s plenty of festive treats going on in to get you in the Christmas mood. On Saturday 30th November things kick o with a carol service and official Christmas lights switch on from 5pm to 7pm at Southbourne Green. On 14th December there is a children's Secret Post Box event at Southbourne Green from 11am to 4pm including a Grotto for all the good boys and girls. Find out more at www.southbourne.net
