Mini Steam Engines come to Poole Quay

Mini Steam Engines come to Poole QuayThe glorious age of steam will be returning to Poole on Saturday 19 May as a festival of miniature traction engines take over Poole Quay as part of Wave 105 Summertime in the South.

Now in its third year, Poole’s Mini Steam on the Quay will see some of the most beautiful and detailed miniature steam traction engines, some which have featured on the Discovery Channel, on display and running from 10am-5pm.

Featuring up to 20 unique miniature traction engines, there will be everything to keep steam enthusiasts young and old happy.  Organised by local enthusiasts Richard Harvey and Nigel Moody, the event will include the chance to ride on the special engines.

Celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in Bournemouth

3 and 4 JuneBournemouth is set to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee in brilliant beach front style with two days of fantastic FREE entertainment!

With an impressive line-up of live music, tribute bands, dance acts, competitions and the screening of The Jubilee Concert’, live from Buckingham Palace, Britain’s Best Beach Destination (Tripadvisor March 2012) is the perfect place to enjoy the extended Jubilee weekend.

The party starts on Sunday 3rd June from 2pm – 10pm with highlights including The Rock Choir, Tea Dance, Zumba-thon and finishes with a live concert from three outstanding tribute acts, ‘Beached Boys’, Tom Canning as Tom Jones and, suitable for the occasion, ‘Qween’.  Celebrations continue on Monday 4th  from 2pm – 1030pm with entertainment including the live screening of the Queen’s Jubilee River Pageant, Fashion Show, dance and finally from 6.45pm, the fantastic star-studded Jubilee Concert.

Christchurch Food Festival Photos

Christchurch Food and Wine FestivalChristchurch saw thousands of visitors over the first weekend of the food and wine festival.

With glorious sunshine on both the Saturday and Sunday, people travelled from across the region to sample top quality food and fine tipples.

We went along and enjoyed the bustling atmosphere, sights and smells including some excellent Bollywood dancing and live music.

The festival continues until the 20th May with plenty more tasty events going on.

Great Christchurch Bake Day

This year the festival is proud to launch a new and exciting event with the “Food Festival Great Christchurch Bake Day and Fete”. It promises to be a great family fun day on Christchurch Quay and takes place on Saturday 19th May 2012 from 10.00am. Taking its initiative from the very successful BBC television series “The Great British Bake Off” the day will be hosted by the 2011 series winner Jo Wheatley. Jo, along with “Miss Ingredient” and Mary Reader Festival President will be judging the competition and the winners will be announced in the exhibition marquee at 5.00pm.

Christchurch Food and Wine Festival

Christchurch Food and Wine FestivalThe Christchurch Food and Wine Festival 2012 sees some exciting new initiatives including an expanded Kids Kitchen, more in the Festival's Cookschool held at The Kings Hotel and a great addition for the second weekend of the Festival with The Great Christchurch Bake Day and Fete.

With over 10,000 expected visitors expected to this years event, it is set to be a record breaking year for the show.

The food market takes place in the pedestrianised High Street in Christchurch on Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th May from 10am to 5pm. The street is filled with more than 100 stalls selling a wide range of food and drink and food-related items. You will find everything from olives to oils and asparagus to anchovies.

Kerry Katona to sing at Bournemouth Pride

Kerry KatonaBourne Free Pride Festival, Bournemouth's gay pride event, is on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15th July 2012.

Kerry Katona has been announced as one of the headline acts for July 14. The singer and TV personality will kick start the evening’s entertainment on stage and will sing later in the evening.

The theme this year is ‘Royalty’ to celebrate the Queens Jubilee.

The popular annual event starts with a town centre parade, then live family entertainment at the bandstand in the afternoon. This is followed by live entertainment on the stage in The Triangle from 7pm. Sunday includes a church service at The Triangle, followed by lots of different goings-on in The Triangle.
